Business Simulation Challenge

The UAE Inter-School Business Simulation Challenge has proven to be yet another success story for Heriot Watt University Dubai Campus despite it just being in its third year of existence. Over 140 school students from across the UAE were encouraged to participate in a simulation that required managing an existing chocolatier, which enabled students to develop their entrepreneurial skills and compete with one another in an intense simulation designed to test their risk bearing and decision making skills. Moreover, the event was an amazing opportunity for students to get to know one another and collaborate on joint decision making in order to secure maximum profitability.

Winners emerged from across the country and were awarded study scholarships of up to 50% based on the success of their company. Additionally, their marketing abilities were also assessed and the team with the best marketing campaign, Business As Usual from St. Mary’s Catholic High School Dubai, also received a prize from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). Despite the intense competition, Perennials from St. Mary’s Catholic High School Dubai managed to achieve first place, followed by DIA Wolves of Wallstreet from Dubai International Academy and Sofoi from DPS Sharjah, who came in second and third place respectively.

Additionally, the competition also awarded teams with study scholarships from the various emirates. For Abu Dhabi it was Squad, Dubai Team C, Sharjah Team 1, Ajman Entreprenade, Ras Al Khaimah Westminister School, and Umm Al Quain Stockholderz.

The event was thoroughly enjoyed by students and teachers alike.

Quotes from some of our participants:
“The competition was a lot of fun, we learned a lot of new things, lots of things we didn’t know, it was a great learning experience”
“We have been to other competitions and this was way more competitive and more nerve-recking, no on knew who would win until the last moment”
“We liked the format, we liked the different ideas, we liked the computerised approach”

We hope to see them at Heriot Watt soon!
